I understand that you are based in Europe, so you described the effects on European EO, but I think this could also be a big help for the usability of EO data in the USA, as NASA has not yet sponsored anything like Sentinel Hub to make it easier for people to use NASA EO data.
Thanks for the interesting perspective on the acquisition. One other EO company that ESA helped to build is ICEYE and they managed to grow into a larger company without being purchased. They did create a subsidiary (although I don’t know the exact ownership arrangement) in the USA to better sell to USA government agencies that require purchasing from USA-based companies and work by USA citizens.
