I normally enjoy your articles very much. But this one is way off. Data from EO for climate for the 55 ECVs doesn't come from those logos that you have bundled from industry. It comes from space agencies. From ESA (like its CCI), from NASA, JAXA, USGS and so on and is guided through the CEOS response to the GCOS IP and the subsequent gap analysis. Folks in the industry I have shared this with also found your article rather fundamentally flawed and misrepresenting the reality. Its just now how it works.
What about EO for providing accurate digital twins/smart buildings to minimize the impact of construction and help decelerate the rate of climate change? Are there other opportunities for EO to help mitigate known problems now?
Thanks Aravind - your thoughts on this very much align with mine and I've been beating the drum for EO for climate as a potentially huge commercial opportunity for a while now. Really appreciate how you've tried to divide up the players in the market and agree that the excitement is going to come from the insights engines (Luca and I are working on an idea in this area right now).
